A small twist in regular rasam, Doddapathre rasam or saaru is prepared using doddapathre leaves, has got unique sweet and sour taste, healthy and one of the simplest rasam recipe using doddapathre or Coleus amboinicus leaves.

Toor dal 1/4 cup

Jaggery

Method
- First pressure cook toor dal and tomato with little turmeric, ghee, and water until it is soft
- Now take a small pan, add ghee, once hot add, doddapatre leaves, pepper, and jeera fry until aroma comes
- Once its cool, make smooth paste into it
- Transfer cooked toor dal into vessel add doddapatre paste
- Add rasam powder, jaggery and tamarind
- adjust water and salt, let it boil for 10 min
- now, take small ladle to add ghee, once hot add jeera and asafetida
- put this temper to rasam
- serve rasam with hot rice and ghee
