Adai is a Dosa-like dish prepared from a combination of lentils and rice. It’s a very healthy, wholesome, crispy, delicious, protein-rich, and nutrient-dense south Indian breakfast recipe.
- Rice 1 cup
- Chana dal 1/2 Cup
- Urad dal 1/2 Cup
- Toor dal 1/2 Cup
- Moong Dal 1/2 Cup
- Red dried chilies
- Cumin seeds
- Salt
- Ginger
- Curry leaves
- asafetida pinch
Method
- Soak rice and dal together in a large vessel for 4-6 hours
- Grind them into smooth batter along with salt, ginger and red chilies
- Add curry leaves and asafetida to it
- Rest for 1/2 an hour
- Heat a Tava or griddle over a medium to high heat. Pour one big spoon (preferable round ladle) full of batter and spread it into a thin dosa.
- Apply oil or ghee on sides of Adai Dosa.
- Optional – Sprinkle onion if you like.
- Serve with coconut chutney
