Hurlai Saasu and Playa ( Horse Gram Rasam and Sundal)


Ingredients 

  1. Sprouted Horse Gram 2 cups ( soak one cup fry horse gram you will get two cups sprouts) 
  2. Salt
  3. Rasam Powder 3 tsp
  4. Onion 1
  5. Cumin 2 tsp
  6. Tamarind Pulp 1 tsp
  7. Jaggery 1/2 tsp
  8. Fresh coriander
  9. Curry leaves
  10. Fresh or frozen coconut 1/2 cup

Method

1. Pressure cook horse gram with salt and water for 4-5 Wishtels 
2. In a jar add one ladle horse gram, coconut, rasam powder, tamarind, cumin seeds, onion and water make smooth paste. 
3. Drain water from cooked horse gram and keep aside
4. For horse gram stock add grounded masala  add salt and stir well
5. Now let it boil for 7-8 min low flame, stir occasionally
6. Take small ladle, add ghee, once hot add cumin and curry leaves 
7. Add this temper to rasam and turn off the flame
8. Garnish with coriander and serve with hot rice or ragi mudde

For Palya or sundal

Ingredients

  1. Cooked horse gram 1 cup
  2. Onion chopped 1
  3. Green chili 2
  4. Red chili 2
  5. Sugar 1tsp
  6. Salt
  7. Fresh coriander 
  8. Curry leaves 
  9. Fresh or Frozen Coconut

Method

  1. Take a Kadai, add oil, once hot add jeera, curry leaves, chopped onions, green chili, red chili and fry
  2. Now add salt and sugar fry for a min
  3. Then add boiled horse gram and mix it close the for 5 min
  4. Now garnish with coriander, coconut and sprinkle some lime juice 
  5. Serve with rasam
